Large Format Pattern Digitizing
V-Shoot XL is a customizable large-format template digitizing system that consists of the following components:
- V-Shoot Software (XL License)
- Customizable XL board up to 14.8’ x 7.9’ (450×240 cm)
- Camera Set (optional*)
Large doesn’t have to be cumbersome, nor should it compromise accuracy. V-Shoot XL lets you digitize your largest patterns in flexible ways that suit your workspace.
The precisely printed circles along the edges of the V-Shoot board allow the software to correct optical distortions and produce highly accurate results. This key feature enables V-Shoot to adapt to any environment, regardless of how the board and camera are configured.
Customized XL Digitizing
We understand that each customer’s digitizing needs are unique—just like their office, studio, or workshop used for CAD/CAM operations such as digitizing, designing, and cutting templates.
V-Shoot XL boards can be customized in various aspects:
- Size: While the most requested board sizes are 200×150 cm, 240×150 cm, and 300×150 cm, the board can be tailored to any dimension up to 450×240 cm.
- Colors: Choose between black or white V-Shoot boards, depending on your template color, to ensure optimal contrast.
- Installation: Most boards are laid flat (on a table, floor, or cutter), but they can also be installed vertically on a wall or at an angle. The camera can be mounted on a ceiling, tripod, or wall using a camera arm—or even handheld in certain vertical setups. For horizontal setups, the camera connects directly to the computer for quick operation.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a V-Shoot system include?
The essential components of the V-Shoot system are the software and the V-Shoot board. The camera is an optional accessory, as some clients may prefer using their own devices for photo capture. If the camera needs to be mounted above the board for automatic photo capture, a “tethering” feature is required, which is commonly supported by most DSLR cameras.
Can V-Shoot be used without the board?
The V-Shoot system can only function without its original board when photos are obtained through a scanner. In this case, V-Shoot software reads the image parameters to calculate the pattern measurements accurately. However, when using a camera or mobile phone to capture images, the V-Shoot board is essential to achieving optimal precision. Our boards are specially designed with precisely printed white circles along the edges, which are utilized by the software to correct optical distortions and ensure accurate pattern dimensions in full scale.
What accuracy can I expect?
For V-Shoot boards under 200 cm in size, the accuracy is within a millimeter. With XL boards, the accuracy is within two millimeters. For sub-millimeter accuracy, our 90×60 cm board provides exceptional precision. Alternatively, if you use a scanner to acquire images, V-Shoot ensures high precision (<0.5 mm) for smaller patterns.
Is V-Shoot compatible with my existing CAD programs and CNC machines?
Yes, V-Shoot supports configurable file formats like DXF, SVG, AAMA DXF and HPGL, making it easy to import your digitized patterns directly into your existing CAD software and CNC machines. You can adjust the layer structure and eliminate unnecessary pattern components as required.
How can I export my patterns?
V-Shoot offers a comprehensive file export menu with a variety of formats. You can export either all patterns from an image or select individual patterns for export. It also allows you to combine patterns from multiple images into a single file.
For Adobe Illustrator users, you can copy patterns directly from V-Shoot and paste them into Illustrator without the need to save any files.
Can I run V-Shoot on macOS?
Yes, you can run V-Shoot on macOS, but it requires a Windows virtual machine (VM) for compatibility.
Is the V-Shoot system calibration-free?
V-Shoot automatically calibrates your system using the printed circles on the board, adjusting for environmental factors such as distance, angle, lighting, and blur. This results in consistently accurate measurements at a 1:1 scale. No pre-installation calibration is necessary, allowing for easy setup and relocation. Additionally, since each image is calibrated in the background, the camera does not need to remain fixed in relation to the board, enabling the option to use a hand-held camera.
How does the V-Shoot camera system work?
- Place the pattern on the magnetic board.
- The camera captures a high-resolution image.
- V-Shoot software automatically vectorizes the pattern and exports it in DXF, AAMA DXF, or PLT formats, which are compatible with leading CAD software.
What advantages does V-Shoot offer over traditional digitizing methods?
- Speed: Automatic image capture and vectorization in seconds.
- No ongoing calibration: One-time setup during installation.
- File versatility: Export files in DXF, AAMA DXF, and PLT formats.
- Accuracy: Minimizes manual errors during production.
What types of materials and patterns can be digitized?
V-Shoot can digitize patterns of any size, material, or color. Whether you’re working with paper, cardboard, textiles, or technical fabrics, V-Shoot accommodates them all. The magnetic board ensures quick and secure fixation without the need for tape, making it ideal for all types of design work.
What makes V-Shoot easy to use?
- Magnetic board with quick-grip buttons for easy and secure placement.
- Automatic vectorization: No need for manual marking of points.
- Direct export of edit-ready files for CAD adjustments, including notches, perforations, or mirrored shapes.
Is V-Shoot compatible with other design and cutting systems?
Yes, V-Shoot is fully compatible with all major CAD systems used across industries such as fashion, furniture, automotive, and industrial design. The exported, DXF, AAMA DXF and PLT files can be seamlessly integrated into your existing workflow with no additional setup required.
What warranty is offered for the V-Shoot Pattern Digitizing Camera?
